Toynbee is an extended school which means that we provide numerous out of school opportunities to our pupils in order to improve their academic outcomes, personal potential and life chances. We receive funding from the government to design services to support pupils’ learning and achievement as well as the wider needs of their families and the local community.
To achieve this we work in partnership with our local authority and Children’s Trust, as well as with other local schools and partners from the voluntary, community and private sectors, to offer access to a range of services and activities which support and motivate children and young people to achieve their full potential.
Toynbee manages and supports the Extended Services development in the following feeder schools; The Crescent, St Francis, Fryern Infants, Fryern Junior, St Swithun Wells, Merdon Junior School and Knightwood Primary school.
The 5 main elements of the extended core offer are as follows:- High quality childcare in Primary & Special schools from 8am - 6pm, including Holiday clubs
A varied menu of activities including study support, sport and music clubs
Swift and easy access to targeted and specialist services
Parenting support including family learning
Community access to facilities including adult and family learning, ICT and sports facilities
